Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum

Are you planning a trip to Maryland with the family? Should this be your first holiday with your family to Maryland, don’t forget to include in your trip a visit to the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in a MD charter bus. It would be an excellent place to go with your family – to learn about the life of the people who live, work and play on the Chesapeake Bay.

The Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum is located on 18 waterfront acres in the town of St. Michaels and it offers many interesting and unique exhibits and displays of the history and culture of Chesapeake Bay. It has been said that the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum’s floating fleet of watercraft is the largest, while their small boat collection consists of crabbing skiffs, workboats as well as log canoes. There will be much to see and do here, especially if it is your first trip here with your family in the MD charter bus. Do give yourself and your family about a few hours to leisurely tour the whole museum without rushing through any of the exhibits – the admission fee to the museum is valid for the whole day, anyway. If you have always been curious on how boats are restored, you will be able to see the works of the restoration of the Bay’s traditional vessels at the museum’s working boatyard. While the restoration works is going on, they also have someone there to explain on what the restorers are doing and what else needs to be done for the old boats.

For one who loves history, learning about the past through the exhibits and displays at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum would certainly give you an insight of the amazing life on the Chesapeake – in the past as well as the present. We also believe that the kids would have a wonderful time at the museum because there are also a lot of exhibits in the museum that are especially for them to learn and use their imagination. If you want to get your hands on learning to build a boat, you can even sign up as an apprentice boat builder – but you will need to find out if this is available on the day of your visit. While the museum and its store is open all year, but their opening hours also vary according to season. They are closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s days.
